APPLICATION & DONATIONS

The Sweeny Police Department is currently accepting applications and taking donations for the 10th Annual Sweeny Blue Santa Program.
Help a family in need by donating new toys, clothing, or money. Applications can be found in the lobby of the Police Department or downloaded here. Donations can be dropped off at City Hall or the Police Department.

The deadline to submit an application is Friday, November 8, 2019, at 5pm.  The pickup date/time is Sunday, December 15, 2019, from Noon-1pm at the Sweeny Community Center.  The delivery will begin on Monday, December 16, 2019, at 1:00pm.

 

EXCLUSIONS, RESTRICTIONS, AND LIMITATIONS

  • Applicants must live within the Sweeny School District
  • Children must be 13 years old or younger
  • Must provide copy of each child’s school report card
  • Proof of residency required
  • Name on proof of residency MUST match name of applicant
  • IF YOU HAVE APPLIED ANY TIME WITHIN THE PAST THREE (3) YEARS, YOU WILL NOT QUALIFY FOR THE 2019 SWEENY BLUE SANTA PROGRAM!

Thank you to everyone for coming out to our Blue Santa Bingo event at the Sweeny Community Center, and for supporting such a worthy cause. All proceeds from this event will go to gifts for underprivileged children in the Sweeny community at Christmas.

Our special thanks to all the community members who donated their time and effort, to all the event sponsors who donated gifts, and to all those who helped make this event possible.

JOIN US — “Coffee with the City”

May 2, 2018 — Residents of Sweeny.  Have you been wanting to ask the City Manager, Public Works Director, or Police Chief a question?  Or, do you just want to meet one of them and sit and talk over coffee?  Well, here is your chance!  Beginning Tuesday, May 8, 2018, and on the second Tuesday of each month, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., you can meet them at the Java Lounge for “Coffee with the City.”  We look forward to seeing you there!

Police Department Receives Gun Donation

The Sweeny Police Department received a firearm donation today from Robert & Darlene Thornsberry (Rajin Cajun Custom Knives), Steve Irwin (Irwin’s Toy Box), and Cecil & Mary Money (C&M Custom Signs).  They donated a custom-made 5.56 AR-15 (pictured left).  Said Sweeny Police Chief, John Barnard, “This donation is done only from the kindness of their hearts and will be used to help serve the fine citizens of Sweeny, Texas.”

Sales Tax Holiday on Emergency Preparation Supplies, April 28-30

April 18, 2018

This year’s sales tax holiday for emergency preparation supplies falls on the weekend of April 28-30.  There is no limit on the number of qualifying items you can purchase.

Volunteers Needed for City Boards/Committees

The City of Sweeny is seeking volunteers for several boards and committees.  The deadline to apply is Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 5:30 p.m.  The boards/committees are:

  • Planning & Zoning Board of Adjustments
  • Ordinance Review Committee
